F1 introduced driver safety device, the ‘HALO’, in 2018. With it restricting the driver eyeline from the cockpit the FIA worked together with the teams to understand its impact during Friday practice sessions. Driver feedback was crucial and initial testing was conducted by Esteban Ocon at the 2016 Mexican Grand Prix followed by Pascal Wehrlein later in the season.

Collins Limited supported Manor Racing F1 to design, manufacture and integrate the HALO on to the existing 2016 chassis. The testing proved successful at Manor Racing F1 and all teams and the FIA-HALO safety structure was introduced across F1 and junior open wheel categories.
